How to improve your SEO to get your “Inbound” leads rolling in

SEO Search Engine Optimisation

SEO. It’s a big subject but wouldn’t it be great if sales leads just came pouring in? “Inbound Marketing” is all about getting enquiries rolling in from your own website and other organisations websites. These leads are high-quality because it’s your prospects who are doing the searching.

All well and good you may say, but how can this be achieved in a cost-effective way? SEO is the best way to generate Inbound sales leads, but doesn’t SEO cost a fortune to do it properly? And doesn’t it takes ages and ages to ramp-up?

The answer is no, if you combine a quality link-building strategy with a content-building News Page/Press Release strategy.

So-called “SEO experts” will say that SEO is a complex, black art, but the truth is that 90% of Google’s ranking algorithm can be covered by addressing the following ranking criteria.

Google looks for “popular, growing, changing and focused” websites, focused on specific keywords:

1) Popular – measured by inbound links. A large number of quality inbound links represents 50% of Google’s ranking algorithm.

2) Growing, changing and focused – the content needs to be regularly growing and changing, particularly changes to the home page and additional News pages. The site needs to be focused – individual pages need a definite theme and focus. That is, “joined-up pages” which focus on a keyword or phrase with every aspect of the page reinforcing the “theme” of the page: url; page title; H1 text; body text; meta text; alt tags; meta tags etc.

Initial “one-off” SEO work

We would need to quote separately for the initial one-off SEO work which would include a Keyword Research Report and the possible re-working of existing pages to have a focused, “joined-up” theme. This work need not cost a fortune – it could be just a few hundred pounds for small to medium-sized websites.

Another one-off project would be to create a “News Snippets” module to automatically appear on every page. Website systems like WordPress already have this feature, so in that case there would be no additional cost. For other websites, there may be a small charge.
